Lymphoepithelial Cyst of the Pancreas: Serum Markers do not Help
نویسندگان
چکیده
We report a case of lymphoepithelial cyst of the pancreas with non-specific elevation of CA 19.9 and CEA. Pre-operative diagnosis by conventional means proved elusive, and only surgical resection and histopathology revealed the diagnosis. The origin and diagnosis are discussed by literature review.

Lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas. Can preoperative imaging distinguish this benign lesion from malignant or pre-malignant cystic pancreatic lesions?
CONTEXT Lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas are rare true benign cystic tumors of the pancreas of uncertain etiology. Cystic neoplasms of the pancreas present a significant diagnostic dilemma in differentiating benign from premalignant or malignant variants. Since the first description of lymphoepithelial cysts in 1985, 109 cases have been reported in the literature. We describe 6 cases of t...

CONTEXT Lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas are a rare disease of true pancreatic cysts, the cause of which is unknown. The differential diagnosis is broad and includes many benign and malignant cystic lesions of the pancreas and surrounding organs. A combination of imaging modalities and fine needle aspiration might narrow the differential diagnosis. However, the final diagnosis can only be...
متن کاملEUS-guided Trucut biopsies may enable the diagnosis of lymphoepithelial cysts of the pancreas. Report of two cases.
CONTEXT Lymphoepithelial cysts are rare benign lesions of the pancreas. Endoscopic ultrasound guided fine needle aspiration (FNA) has reportedly been helpful in reaching a diagnosis of lymphoepithelial cyst. In cases where it may be difficult to obtain a diagnosis using FNA a histological sample may be obtained using EUS guided Trucut biopsy. CASE REPORTS We describe two cases of lymphoepithe...
